Appreciate What You Have

I've always been taught to appreciate everything I have. Even when times are hard, don't feel sorry for yourself-remember what you do have. The busier my schedule gets, the less tolerant of complaining I become. I work or am in school 7 days a week and still find time to volunteer in a classroom, go to the gym, and hang out with friends. Not only do I work/attend class everyday...I wouldn't trade any of it for a day off. I am young and will have my later years to relax. Right now is my time to achieve all of my dreams and make them my reality. I love everything I'm doing and even when I'm tired I remind myself that I am so lucky to have all the opportunities I do. I'm lucky to have  two jobs, have an internship, be in school, and have the family and friends that I do. So don't come complaining to me that you're tired when you have weekends off, there's no reason you should be so tired. Or don't complain to me when you're broke, but yet you have weekends off-find a weekend job. I understand there are obstacles in life and not everything is so simple, but generally speaking you should love what you do and do what you love and continually appreciate every opportunity that comes your way. If you don't love what you're doing-reevaluate it. I'm in school for social work and look forward to getting my masters in early childhood education. This certainly is not the field full of money, but thats certainly not my first priority. I want a job that I love and look forward to going to every day. If you're unhappy in your job-reevvaluate why you're there and what other options are available.
We all go through struggles and tough times-my life's not perfect either and sometimes I do wish I had a day off, but sometimes we need to be reminded of just how lucky we truly are. I have the best family and friends anyone could ever ask for and I know that they are all I really need in life. So every day, wake up and tell yourself that you're thankful for today's opportunities and that you will make the most of them...and you might just have a better day!

On that same note...About 5 ish years ago someone once told me that they believe we wake up with a choice to make every day. A choice on whether or not we're going to be happy that day. At the time I thought that was completely untrue and refused to even entertain the idea. However, as I near my last year of college I realize that that was actually a true statement. Everyday I wake up and I think about the days events. If it's a really busy and stressful day, I once again remind myself that at least I have a job and am in school and find a positive light to the day's events. I tell myself that life really isn't bad and that today I will be happy. And it's worked. Even though I'm the busiest I have ever been, I have very few unhappy days. I continually try to surround myself with positive people and find outlets for my stress when necessary.

So remember, when you wake up tomorrow-You have a choice to make.
